I would love to win a copy of this book for my 5 year old. He has autism and even at 5 we are struggling with how to handle this. I have to admit, the idea of talking to kindergartners scare the bejesus out of me.

Especially a signed copy… I’m trying to think of a touching story on how it would help explain to my son, his brother’s Autism (which is true), but really it just boils down to I just really would like to win a copy. 🙂
Comment by mommy~dearest April 14, 2010 @ 5:09 pmwe just found out that my husband has Asperger’s and so do my 2 boys. My youngest is like his father where they are just Star Wars buffs. I thought they were just SW nerds lol, but when it comes to social interactions, trouble with being disciplined( my son is very sensitive) I just thought that he was just spoiled by me and wasn’t used to being disciplined. My son accepts his AS, where I am still learning. He can teach me so many things( like the planets, science, SW) at 8years old that no other 8 year old can. If I were to read My Brother Charlie to him I know he would be able to relate.

(She is 1.5, and her brother with ASD is 3.5.) I think she will love that she and Teo aren’t the only kids in the world dealing with autism, that autism isn’t anything to be scared or ashamed of.

Comment by Lea CD April 14, 2010 @ 9:37 pmI would like to have a copy of the book because I would like to know what is like to have a typical child at home & how it feels to have someone who child like nature to help an autistic child/sibling.
We have a 6.5 years old Daniel who has been diagnosed with Autism. We have no relatives around, no neighbors in the community who has typical child so Daniel will have a role model, whom he can “play with.”. At least through reading a book like My Brother Charlie by HRB, I could at least imagine and dream deep in my heart that Daniel has someone who could teach him how to play the truck, race cars, run with another child, how to play soccer at the point of view of a typical child. Thank you .

I am glad that there are people writing this to allow everyone in the society to see how families like mine live through these…I especially owe a lot to my daughter who is the older sister. She has sacrificed a lot but is still so passionate for my son — she is going to high school next year and her dream occupation is to be someone who would be able to help others like my son!!!
Would love to get her a book as this one!

We’re pretty sure my 3 year old has some form of autism and I think this would be a great book for us to read with my other son. He’s only 2, but I know one day before I know it he will be realizing that his older brother has some differences.

We have worked very hard to address other students’ fears about his behavior and his seeming lack of interest and interaction. Many of them get it, but a few are still very wary of him. A book like this would help a lot.

I work with schools, families, and children to promote inclusion efforts and acceptance into the community through individualized intervention programs. This book would be a valuable resource to share with families and schools when talking about autism and ways to embrace differences in others. I have been following Celebrity Apprentice and have seen Holly’s passion for her charity and her son- I would like to be a part of this great cause to continue raising awareness and understanding. This book would contribute to my efforts in the field.

I am a single mother with two full time jobs , no ssi and no child support , I would love to give my nephew the copy I have and keep the autographed copy for myself . $ is tight .
I enjoy reading it to my son I am sure his cousin would love to be able to read it to himself as well.

I would like to have your book because as a foster parent I have had many children with different disabilities in my home, and even though I have yet to foster a child with autism, this book will help me understand through the eyes of a child with autism what it is like for them. I will also be able to share My Brother Charlie with other foster children and foster parents, to remind them that we are all different in one way or another, but we all deserve to be loved.
